Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath Stresses on India-US Partnership for Exceptional Results in Healthcare and Innovation

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed confidence in the potential of collaboration between India and the United States, emphasizing that the combination of India’s scale and the US’s expertise would yield outstanding outcomes. His remarks came during the partnership program between Stanford University in the US, SGPGI, and JIMS in Gautam Buddha Nagar, as part of the Uttar Pradesh Health Technology Summit 2023.

CM Yogi highlighted India’s remarkable performance during the global COVID-19 pandemic, pointing out that despite having a population four times larger than the US, India’s COVID-19 mortality rate was only half that of the US. He praised Uttar Pradesh for its significant contribution to healthcare by providing excellent healthcare facilities in the state.

Drawing attention to the emergence of numerous startups in India over the past nine years, CM Yogi emphasized that India has become a thriving hub for unicorns, with Uttar Pradesh making notable progress in this regard.

“The IT and Electronics Department, along with prestigious institutions associated with the partnership program, will also support it so that positive results can be seen as soon as possible,” he said.

CM Yogi assured enthusiastic government support for the partnership with the Indo-US Global Foundation, emphasizing that Uttar Pradesh offers a conducive environment for US innovation and startups. The IT and Electronics Department, along with prestigious institutions involved in the partnership program, will provide support to ensure positive and timely outcomes.

The Chief Minister highlighted the establishment of several startups under Uttar Pradesh’s startup policy and the government’s efforts to facilitate their establishment and procurement. He praised SGPGI for pioneering virtual ICUs during the COVID-19 pandemic, demonstrating innovation and prompt relief measures in various cities across the state.

CM Yogi also underscored the state’s success in eradicating encephalitis, a disease that claimed the lives of approximately 50,000 children between 1977 and 2017. He commended the collective efforts of the Health Department and other supporting departments in achieving this outstanding feat. The state has also made significant progress in controlling water-borne and vector-borne diseases such as malaria, chikungunya, and dengue.

The Chief Minister expressed optimism that the partnership between India and the US would play a crucial role in promoting startups in the field of medical health. During the program, he appealed for the integration of technology in Sitapur’s eye hospital, which was renowned for attracting patients from both within the country and abroad, stressing the importance of providing necessary facilities and infrastructure for the hospital.

“We believe that this partnership will prove to be very useful in promoting such startups in the field of medical health,”

The program was attended by Chief Secretary Durgashankar Mishra, Additional Chief Secretary (Chief Minister) S.P. Goyal, and the Principal Secretary of Medical Education.
