In a significant development, Senior IPS officer Utkal Ranjan Sahu officially assumed the role of Acting Director General of Police in Rajasthan at the police headquarters on Saturday. Sahu, a seasoned 1988-batch IPS officer currently serving as the Director General of Rajasthan Home Guards, took on the additional charge following the voluntary retirement of Director General of Police Umesh Mishra.
Addressing the responsibilities ahead, Acting DGP Sahu stated that the police force, in alignment with the state government’s instructions and priorities, will prioritize the prevention of crimes against women, gang-related activities, and cybercrimes.
Emphasizing the commitment to effective action, Sahu affirmed that stringent measures would be taken against gangsters, cybercriminals, and those involved in crimes against women. He highlighted ongoing efforts against gangsters in the state and pledged concrete steps to address and prevent crimes against women through consultations with relevant authorities.
On the front of cybercrime prevention, Sahu stressed the importance of public awareness, noting that the police department is actively working to educate people and reduce cybercrime through vigilance.
The assumption of the Acting DGP role was marked by the presence of senior police officers, including Director General (Law and Order) Rajeev Sharma, Director General (Cyber Security) Ravi Mehrada, and Additional Directors General Sanjay Agarwal, Govind Gupta, Anil Paliwal, Sanjib Narzary, Vishal Bansal, and V K Singh, who were present at the police headquarters to welcome Sahu.
