Union Minister Smriti Irani strongly criticized Congress leader and former MP Rahul Gandhi, labeling him a “frustrated dynast,” after his comments on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to France and his alleged silence on the Manipur issue. Irani took to Twitter to express her disdain for Gandhi’s statements, accusing him of seeking international intervention in India’s internal matters and undermining the “Make in India” initiative. She further asserted that the defense contracts no longer favored Gandhi’s family due to their rejection by the people.
Earlier, Rahul Gandhi had criticized Prime Minister Modi for his perceived silence on the violence in Manipur. Gandhi claimed that while Manipur was experiencing unrest, the European Parliament was discussing India’s internal matters, yet the Prime Minister remained silent. Additionally, Gandhi mentioned PM Modi’s attendance at the Bastille Day Parade, suggesting that the Rafale deal might have influenced his participation.
It should be noted that Manipur witnessed violence in May following a High Court order to consider including the Meitei community in the Scheduled Tribes category. Rahul Gandhi had visited Manipur on June 29, emphasizing the need for peace in the state to promote healing.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi traveled to France on Thursday, where he attended the Bastille Day Parade as the guest of honor on Friday. During his visit, the French President, Emmanuel Macron, bestowed upon him the highest French honor. (ANI)
