Suryakumar Yadav Holds Top Spot, Shubman Gill Climbs in ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings

Star India batter Suryakumar Yadav has maintained his position as the top-ranked batter in the ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings, as per the latest rankings released on Wednesday. Despite a relatively subdued series performance with two half-centuries and a total of 166 runs in four innings, Suryakumar Yadav retains a comfortable lead at the pinnacle of the T20I rankings for batters.

Shubman Gill, a fellow Indian teammate, made a significant leap of 43 spots to reach the 25th position on the same list. Gill’s impressive tally of 102 runs during the series against the West Indies propelled him up the rankings, with his match-winning 77 in the fourth T20I standing out as a highlight.

In the aftermath of their triumphant series victory over India, several West Indies players have reaped rewards in the latest ICC rankings. The West Indies managed to break a six-year drought by narrowly defeating India 3-2 in their home T20I series, and the performances of their players did not go unnoticed.

Opener Brandon King’s unbeaten 85 in the series decider propelled him five places up the rankings to 13th place among T20I batters. King’s impressive total of 173 runs for the series was second only to his teammate Nicholas Pooran, who accumulated 176 runs and now occupies the 15th spot on the T20I batter rankings.

West Indies spinner Akeal Hosein’s five-wicket haul in the series has earned him a three-place jump to 11th position among T20I bowlers. On the Indian side, spinner Kuldeep Yadav experienced a remarkable rise of 23 places to 28th position following his six wickets across the five matches.

West Indies pacer Romario Shepherd also enjoyed a significant rise in the rankings. His standout Player of the Match performance in the fifth and decisive match against India propelled him 20 places higher to 63rd on the list of T20I bowlers and four positions higher to 19th on the all-rounders’ rankings.

The recent ICC rankings reflect the impact of individual performances in the T20I series between India and the West Indies, with several players making substantial strides to solidify their positions among the world’s elite cricketers.
