Six Accused Charged with Murder in Tillu Tajpuria Case

Delhi Police’s special cell has filed a charge sheet against six accused individuals arrested in connection with the Tillu Tajpuria murder case. Tillu Tajpuria was allegedly murdered in Tihar Jail in May of this year.

The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Snigdha Sarvaria of Patiala House court has taken cognizance of the charge sheet, and the matter is scheduled for further hearing on August 17.

The charge sheet, filed on Thursday by Delhi Police, includes sections 302 (murder), 307 (attempt to murder), 201 (disappearance of evidence), 34 (Common Intention), and 120B (criminal Conspiracy) of the IPC.

The six accused persons charged in the case are Yogesh alias Tunda, Deepak Dabas alias Teeter, Riyaz Khan, Rajesh Karambir, Vinod alias Chavanni, and Ata Ur Rahman. All of them are currently in judicial custody following police interrogation.

The incident was initially registered by local police, but later the investigation was transferred to the special cell. The court had previously directed jail authorities to ensure the safety and security of the accused individuals.

The murder is believed to be a revenge killing for Jitender alias Gogi’s death, who was shot dead in Rohini Court in September 2021 by members of the Tillu Tajpuria gang.

During the investigation, the special cell recorded statements from three eyewitness inmates regarding the matter.

The brutal murder was captured on CCTV within Tihar Jail and had subsequently gone viral. The assailants were seen attacking Till Tajpuria after dragging him from his cell.
