Revanth Reddy Set to Become Telangana’s Next Chief Minister

In a significant development, Telangana Congress chief A Revanth Reddy has been declared the next chief minister of the state. The announcement was made by Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal, who stated that Revanth Reddy would lead the Congress Legislative Party in Telangana. The swearing-in ceremony for the new government is scheduled to take place on December 7.

The decision, endorsed by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, follows a comprehensive report submitted by AICC in-charge of the state, Manikrao Thakare, and the party’s special observer after a meeting with the newly-elected MLAs.

“Congress President has decided to go with Revanth Reddy as the new CLP of the Telangana Legislative Party. The swearing-in ceremony of the new Telangana CM is to be held on December 7,” announced Venugopal.

Revanth Reddy, known for his vocal criticism of outgoing Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, played a prominent role in the Congress’s electoral campaign in the state, securing an absolute majority with 64 out of 119 seats.

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi, which had governed Telangana for the past decade, secured 38 seats, while the BJP and AIMIM won eight and seven seats, respectively. Revanth Reddy currently serves as the Member of Parliament from Malkajgiri in the state and assumed the role of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee President in June 2021, succeeding N. Uttam Kumar Reddy.
