Renowned Ghazal Maestro Pankaj Udhas Passes Away at 72

Globally celebrated Ghazal maestro and Padma Shri awardee, Pankaj Udhas, breathed his last on Monday at the age of 72.

The sad news was shared by Pankaj Udhas’ daughter, Nayaab, on Instagram through a statement that conveyed, “With a very heavy heart, we are saddened to inform you of the sad demise of Padmashri Pankaj Udhas on 26th February 2024 due to a prolonged illness.” The legendary singer succumbed to his illness after a prolonged battle.

Following the announcement of the singer’s passing, an outpouring of condolences flooded the comment section on Nayaab’s post. Fans expressed their sorrow, with messages like, “May his soul rest in peace,” and “I’m so sorry to hear of your loss, stay strong and please accept my condolences.” Others shared sentiments of “Deepest Condolences and Prayers.”

Pankaj Udhas, known for his timeless ghazals such as ‘Chitthi Aayi Hai,’ ‘Chandani Raat Mein,’ ‘Na Kajre Ki Dhaar,’ ‘Aur Ahista Kijiye Baatein,’ ‘Ek Taraf Uska Ghar,’ and ‘Thodi Thodi Piya Karo,’ leaves behind a rich musical legacy. His demise has left the music industry in shock and mourning.
