In Kotputli-Behror district of Rajasthan, a 25-year-old rape survivor faced a violent attack, sustaining serious injuries, including gunshot wounds, when assaulted by the man accused of raping her and two accomplices. The survivor’s brother also suffered injuries during the attack. Both victims are receiving treatment at Sawai Man Singh Hospital. The three accused, including the main offender Rajendra Yadav, have been apprehended by the police.
Rajendra Yadav, the primary suspect, was captured after his leg was amputated following a train accident in Jaipur. The incident occurred on Saturday night as the survivor and her brother were returning home on a two-wheeler. The assailants, Yadav along with Mahipal Gujral and Rahul Gujral, attacked the siblings near Pragpura police station. The survivors were followed before being assaulted, with Yadav shooting the woman in the back while the others stabbed both victims with a sharp-edged weapon, causing multiple injuries.
The FIR, based on the family’s complaint, alleges that Yadav had raped the woman on January 16 the previous year. Subsequently, he was arrested and fired from his job. Upon recent release on bail, Yadav began threatening the woman to withdraw the case against him. The attack occurred when she refused to comply.
Mahipal and Rahul were arrested on Sunday. In an attempt to evade authorities, Yadav altered his appearance by trimming his beard and hair. However, he was involved in the train accident in Jaipur’s Malviya Nagar. Identified as the main accused in the attack, Yadav suffered amputation of his right leg and injuries to his left leg. He is currently receiving treatment at SMS Hospital.
The FIR against the accused includes charges under sections 307 (attempt to murder), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code, along with provisions of the Arms Act.
