Ranbir Kapoor’s “Animal” Roars at the Global Box Office with Record-Breaking Opening Day Collection

Ranbir Kapoor’s latest crime drama, “Animal,” has set the box office on fire with an extraordinary global debut on December 1. The Sandeep Reddy Vanga-directed film has etched its name in history by achieving the highest non-holiday opening for a Hindi film, raking in a staggering 116 crore on its first day worldwide.

Producers of “Animal” took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce the groundbreaking opening day collection, confirming early speculations that the film would easily surpass the 100 crore mark globally. The makers shared a poster celebrating the achievement with the caption, “The biggest non-holiday opening in Hindi cinema history: 116 crores worldwide.”

Released alongside Meghna Gulzar’s period drama “Sam Bahadur,” starring Vicky Kaushal, “Animal” now finds itself sandwiched between two Shah Rukh Khan releases this year, “Jawan” (125.05 crore) and “Pathaan” (106 crore), solidifying its position as a major box office contender.

Featuring stellar performances by Ranbir Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Anil Kapoor, and Rashmika Mandanna, “Animal” revolves around Ranbir’s character seeking vengeance as the resentful son of Anil Kapoor. According to reports, Ranbir’s portrayal is praised for its perfect balance of vulnerability and villainy, earning him acclaim.

However, the film has also faced criticism for its perceived misogynistic tone, particularly in the depiction of on-screen chemistry between Ranbir and Rashmika. Some critics noted Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s portrayal of a toxic marriage, highlighting the film’s shift from sizzling chemistry to chauvinistic themes.
