Rajasthan Chief Minister Criticizes Assam CM’s Remarks at Poll Rally

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot took a strong stance against his Assam counterpart and BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma, condemning his statements made during a poll rally in Rajasthan. Gehlot accused Sarma of exceeding his rhetoric to appease his political superiors in the saffron camp.

Sarma, addressing a public gathering in the poll-bound state, questioned whether the BJP should focus on “Babar and Aurangzeb” if not discussing ‘Hindus.’ Responding to Sarma’s remarks, Gehlot refrained from direct comments, stating that the Assam CM was speaking excessively to demonstrate loyalty to the BJP, emphasizing his previous association with the Congress.

During his canvassing for the BJP in Jaipur Rural district, Sarma declared the party’s pride in speaking about Hinduism and questioned the necessity of discussing figures like Babar and Aurangzeb.

In response to a query about Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s assertion that the BJP is introducing religion and Hindutva into the Rajasthan poll narrative, Sarma defended the party’s commitment to proudly speak about Hinduism.

Gehlot, in a counter, criticized the BJP’s campaign strategy, urging the elections in Rajasthan to focus on the incumbent party’s five years of work. He accused the BJP of lacking substantial issues and diverting the discourse to religious themes.

While Gehlot outlined the guarantees made to the people ahead of the November 25 polls, Sarma countered by highlighting issues such as high petrol prices and electricity costs in Rajasthan. Sarma dismissed the guarantees, asserting that consumers in Rajasthan pay more for these essential services.

As the political exchanges intensify, the countdown to the Rajasthan elections on November 25 continues, with the results slated for counting on December 3.
