Rajasthan’s Chief Minister, Ashok Gehlot, exudes confidence that the Congress party will secure a commanding victory in the upcoming assembly elections, poised to take place by the end of this year. Gehlot anticipates the Congress returning to power for a second term, driven by a resounding majority.
In a significant development, a high-level meeting of Rajasthan Congress leaders was convened today in Jaipur. The meeting, attended by the party’s state unit president Govind Singh Dotasara, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, MLA Sachin Pilot, and the party’s state in charge Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, discussed crucial strategies and party objectives.
Addressing the media post-meeting, Gehlot confidently stated, “Congress will again win with a huge majority in the state. The public has determined that Congress repeats government in Rajasthan.”
Gehlot also emphasized that the party’s preparations were already underway. He noted that Rajasthan was setting an example for other states by introducing effective schemes and policies that resonated with the public. He underscored the significance of the state’s initiatives being incorporated into the manifestos and campaigns of other states.
The Chief Minister elaborated on the popularity of schemes such as the Old Pension Scheme, the Right to Health, and Social Security, asserting that their recognition across the nation marked a substantial triumph for the state.
Echoing Gehlot’s sentiments, Congress leader Raghu Sharma also expressed confidence in the party’s triumph in the state assembly elections. The election, scheduled for later this year, has set the stage for a direct competition between the incumbent Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
In a related development, the BJP announced the establishment of the state BJP unit’s election manifesto committee and the Rajasthan election management committee on August 17. Arjun Ram Meghwal, Lok Sabha MP, will chair the Rajasthan BJP’s state manifesto committee, while several prominent figures including Lal Meena, Alka Gurjar, and Ravi Rajendra Singh have been appointed as co-conveners.
The 2018 assembly elections saw the Congress securing 99 seats, while the BJP clinched 73 seats out of the 200-member house. The Congress, led by Ashok Gehlot, formed the government with support from Independent candidates and the BSP. As Rajasthan gears up for another electoral showdown, the political landscape promises intense competition between the two major parties.
