Rahul Gandhi Re-allotted Tughlaq Lane Bungalow as MP Residency”

Rahul Gandhi, a prominent leader of the Congress party, has been reassigned the bungalow at 12, Tughlaq Lane, following the restoration of his parliamentary membership by a directive from the Supreme Court. Party sources confirmed this development on Tuesday, underscoring that an official confirmation from the Estate office has been received for the bungalow allotment.

“Rahul Gandhi has received official confirmation from the Estate office regarding the allocation of a bungalow as an MP in Delhi,” revealed credible sources within the Congress party.

Although the offer to reclaim his previous residence, 12, Tughlaq Lane, has been extended, the Congress leader has not yet finalized his decision.

“At this point, he has been offered 12, Tughlak Lane, which was his previous residence. However, his final decision on this matter is pending,” stated the source.

Rahul Gandhi has been granted an eight-day window to respond to this offer.

In response to reporters’ inquiries about the recent development, the Congress leader humorously remarked, “Mera ghar poora Hindustan hai,” meaning “The whole country is my home.”

The House Committee of the Lok Sabha has resolved to reassign the same bungalow that Rahul Gandhi was instructed to vacate after his disqualification as a lower house member on March 24, stemming from his conviction and subsequent two-year jail sentence for the ‘Modi surname’ comments.

The reinstatement of Gandhi’s lower house membership took place on Monday, orchestrated by the Lok Sabha Secretariat in light of the Supreme Court’s decision to stay his conviction in a defamation case.

The move to vacate the bungalow originally transpired shortly after a Surat Session’s Court issued an order on April 20, pertaining to Gandhi’s interim plea for a stay on his conviction in the defamation case.

In the interim period, Rahul Gandhi had temporarily taken up residence at the former abode of Sonia Gandhi, the former Congress President, situated at 10 Janpath Road.
