Rahul Gandhi Embarks on Tamil Nadu and Kerala Visit After Parliament Appearance

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi arrived at Coimbatore airport on Saturday morning via an IndiGo flight from Delhi, marking the beginning of his two-day visit to Tamil Nadu and Kerala. During this trip, Gandhi is scheduled to visit Udhagamandalam (Ooty) and subsequently travel by road to Wayanad, his parliamentary constituency in Kerala.

This visit holds special significance as it comes after the Supreme Court’s stay order on Gandhi’s conviction in the ‘Modi’ surname case, allowing him to resume his role as a Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha.

In Kerala, the Congress leader will partake in public meetings and will also participate in a significant handover ceremony involving nine houses constructed under the Kaithangu Project in Kalpetta. Furthermore, Gandhi is set to attend a district Congress Committee meeting, as confirmed by Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee Working President VT Siddique. He mentioned, “There will be a very warm welcome ever hand in the history of Wayanad for Rahul Gandhi.”

Following his engagements in India, sources indicate that Rahul Gandhi is slated to embark on a tour of Europe in the second week of September. The tour will encompass three countries – Belgium, Norway, and France. During this trip, Gandhi is anticipated to engage with European Union Parliamentarians, the Indian diaspora, and university students.

Meanwhile, back in the Lok Sabha, Gandhi was an active participant during the no-confidence motion introduced by his party against the central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Although the motion was supported by the Opposition bloc I.N.D.I.A (Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance), it was defeated after Prime Minister Modi’s address.

Gandhi’s speech during the no-confidence motion criticized Prime Minister Modi’s demeanor, stating that it was inappropriate for him to engage in laughter and jokes in Parliament while Manipur faced ongoing unrest for over three months.
