Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Lay Foundation Stone for Development of 21 Amrit Bharat Railway Stations in Telangana

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to lay the foundation stone for the development of 21 Amrit Bharat Railway stations in Telangana on August 6. The project, costing Rs 894 crores, aims to modernize and enhance the facilities at these railway stations.

The Amrit Bharat station scheme in Telangana encompasses a total of 39 stations, with the foundation stone for 21 stations set to be laid in Phase-1. These stations include Adilabad, Basar, Begumpet, Bhadrachalam Road, Gadwal, Hafizpeta, Hi-tech city, Huppuguda, Hyderabad, Jadcherla, Jangaon, Kacheguda, Kamareddi, Karimnagar, Kazipet Jn, Khammam, Lingampalli, Madhira, Mahabubabad, Mahbubnagar, Malakpet, Malkajgiri, Manchiryal, Medchal, Miryalaguda, Nalgonda, Nizamabad, Peddapalli, Ramagundam, Secunderabad, Shadnagar, Sri Bala Brahmeswara Jogulamba, Tandur, Umdanagar, Vikarabad, Warangal, Yadadri, Yakutpura, and Zahirabad.

Additionally, the Prime Minister has already laid the foundation stone for the redevelopment of Secunderabad Railway Station at a cost of Rs 715 crore, and the Cherlapally Railway Station is also undergoing redevelopment with a budget of Rs 221 crore.

The Amrit Bharat Station scheme, conceived by the Government of India through the Ministry of Railways, focuses on continuous and long-term development of railway stations. The scheme involves the preparation of Master Plans and their phased implementation to improve various amenities at the stations, such as station access, circulating areas, waiting halls, toilets, lift/escalators, cleanliness, free Wi-Fi, local product kiosks through the ‘One Station One Product’ initiative, better passenger information systems, Executive Lounges, designated spaces for business meetings, landscaping, and other necessary facilities.

The scheme also aims to integrate the station with both sides of the city, provide multimodal integration, amenities for Divyangjans (persons with disabilities), sustainable and environment-friendly solutions, ballastless tracks, ‘Roof Plazas’ as needed, and the creation of city centers at the station in the long term.

The focus of the Amrit Bharat Stations scheme is to modernize railway stations and prioritize passenger comfort, cleanliness, and the availability of free Wi-Fi.
