Prime Minister Narendra Modi actively participated in the ‘Viksit Bharat, Viksit Goa 2047’ program on Tuesday, marking the inauguration and foundation laying of projects exceeding Rs 1330 crore.
One significant highlight of the event was the Prime Minister inaugurating the permanent campus of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Goa. The newly established campus boasts state-of-the-art facilities, including tutorial complexes, departmental facilities, seminar spaces, administrative complexes, hostels, health centers, staff quarters, amenity centers, sports grounds, and other utilities designed to cater to the diverse needs of students, faculty, and staff, as announced by the Prime Minister’s Office.
In addition to this, Prime Minister Modi dedicated the new campus of the National Institute of Watersports. The institute is set to introduce 28 specialized courses aimed at promoting the development of watersports and water rescue activities, catering to both the general public and the armed forces.
Further contributing to environmental initiatives, the Prime Minister inaugurated a 100 Tonnes Per Day (TPD) Integrated Waste Management Facility in South Goa. The facility is designed for the scientific treatment of 60 TPD of wet waste and 40 TPD of dry waste, featuring a 500 KW solar power plant generating surplus electricity.
In an effort to enhance connectivity and tourism, Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation stone for a Passenger Ropeway, along with associated tourism activities, connecting Panaji and Reis Magos. Additionally, the foundation stone for a 100 Million Litres Per Day (MLD) Water Treatment Plant in South Goa was laid during the event.
The Prime Minister took the opportunity to distribute appointment orders to 1930 new government recruits across various departments through the Rozgar Mela. Moreover, he handed over sanction letters to beneficiaries of various welfare schemes, emphasizing the government’s commitment to holistic development and job creation.
