Addressing an election rally in Aligarh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized the Congress and Samajwadi Party (SP), alleging that these parties become uneasy whenever the plight of Pasmanda Muslims is raised, as they have failed to uplift the community.
Modi accused the Congress and SP of engaging in appeasement politics and neglecting the political, social, and economic betterment of Muslims. He highlighted the BJP’s efforts in safeguarding the rights of Muslim women by enacting legislation against triple talaq.
During his speech, Prime Minister Modi remarked, “Parties like Congress and SP have perpetuated appeasement politics and neglected the holistic advancement of Muslims. When I address the issues faced by Pasmanda Muslims, these parties get anxious because they have turned a blind eye to their struggles.”
He continued, “In this region, numerous lives were shattered due to the scourge of triple talaq. It wasn’t just the daughters who suffered, but their entire families bore the brunt. The BJP, however, has taken steps to protect their rights by outlawing triple talaq.”
Modi also highlighted the government’s decision to allow women to travel for Haj without a male guardian (‘Mehram’), noting the positive response received from thousands of women whose dream of undertaking the pilgrimage has been realized.
Furthermore, Prime Minister Modi praised Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, asserting that under his leadership, the state is on track to become a significant center for self-reliant India initiatives.
“Thanks to the BJP, Uttar Pradesh is poised to become a key hub for Atmanirbhar Bharat. Yogi ji’s ‘One District, One Product’ initiative is garnering nationwide acclaim. His administration’s proactive approach has propelled development to unprecedented heights,” Modi stated.
The Aligarh Lok Sabha seat, alongside several others in Uttar Pradesh, is set to undergo polls in the second phase on April 26.
