PM Modi Urges NDA MPs to Maintain Parliamentary Decorum After Rahul Gandhi’s Fiery Attack

PM Modi Urges NDA MPs to Uphold Parliamentary Decorum Amid Rahul Gandhi’s Allegations

New Delhi: Following a heated exchange in the Lok Sabha sparked by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s attack on the BJP, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today called on MPs of the ruling NDA to adhere strictly to parliamentary rules and maintain exemplary conduct in the House.

Addressing the NDA parliamentary party meeting, which saw the attendance of top BJP leaders and ministers, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the importance of decorum and service to the nation. This meeting marked his first address to NDA MPs since beginning his third term as Prime Minister.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju briefed the media post-meeting, stating that the Prime Minister congratulated MPs on his third-term victory and reiterated the need for their unwavering support.

“The Prime Minister gave us an important message, stressing that MPs are in Parliament to serve the nation. He guided us on how to conduct ourselves in the House,” said Rijiju. He added that PM Modi urged MPs to adhere to parliamentary rules while addressing constituency and national issues, maintaining the traditions and standards of parliamentary democracy.

Referencing the previous day’s uproar, Rijiju remarked, “Yesterday, Rahul Gandhi’s behavior, turning his back on the Speaker and insulting him, was inappropriate. We must ensure we do not replicate such behavior. This is our lesson.”

While Rijiju confirmed that today’s meeting did not discuss Mr. Gandhi’s remarks or the ensuing ruckus, he emphasized the session’s focus on enhancing coordination among NDA MPs. He also mentioned that the Prime Minister would address the debate on the Motion of Thanks to the President’s address in Lok Sabha later today.

Rahul Gandhi, in his role as Leader of the Opposition, launched a strong critique against the BJP yesterday, accusing the ruling party of undermining the Constitution and misusing investigative agencies for political purposes. His comments, parts of which were expunged, led to loud protests from BJP members, prompting PM Modi to intervene twice. The BJP accused Gandhi of insulting Hindus, while the Congress clarified that his remarks targeted the BJP and its ideological mentor, the RSS.
