Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed criticism while defending recent anti-corruption actions by the Directorate of Enforcement (ED), following a significant cash seizure in Jharkhand. During a public rally in Odisha’s Nabarangpur, PM Modi responded to both praise and backlash, asserting that stopping corruption and preventing looting will naturally invite criticism.
The ED’s operation earlier in the day revealed over Rs 20 crore from the residence of a household help employed by Sanjiv Lal, the Personal Secretary to Jharkhand Rural Development Minister Alamgir Alam, in multiple locations in Ranchi.
In his address, PM Modi also criticized the Biju Janata Dal (BJD)-led government in Odisha, accusing it of obstructing the implementation of central government schemes and labeling those that were executed as tainted by corruption.
Highlighting the neglect of women’s welfare by the Odisha government, PM Modi contrasted the central government’s provision of financial assistance to pregnant women with the lack of implementation in Odisha. He emphasized the BJP’s commitment to women’s empowerment through initiatives like the ‘Subhadra Scheme’ in Odisha.
Further, PM Modi underscored the mismanagement of funds by the BJD-ruled state government, citing instances where central funds allocated for various projects were not effectively utilized.
In an appeal to the people of Odisha, PM Modi touted the BJP’s track record in tribal welfare and education, promising to elevate Odisha to the forefront within five years if given the opportunity.
PM Modi concluded by urging voters to consider the BJP as a solution to longstanding issues faced by the state, emphasizing the party’s dedication to their welfare.
