Early Monday morning, a passenger train traveling from Sabarmati to Agra Cantt encountered a derailment near Ajmer, with four coaches, including the engine, affected. The incident took place close to the Home Signal at Madar village near Ajmer, causing temporary disruption to rail services.
Captain Shashi Kiran, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of North Western Railway, confirmed the derailment, stating, “At approximately 01:04 am today, train number 12548, Sabarmati-Agra Cantt, derailed near Ajmer. The engine and four general coaches were involved. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported.”
Immediate efforts were initiated by railway authorities and staff to commence restoration work on the tracks. Six train services were impacted by the incident. Captain Shashi Kiran emphasized the formulation of an action plan to prevent such occurrences in the future.
To assist passengers, a help desk has been established at Ajmer station, and a helpline number, 0145-2429642, has been provided. Consequently, rail traffic along the affected line has been disrupted.
As a result of the derailment, Train No. 19736, traveling from Marwar to Jaipur, has been canceled. Additionally, Train No. 12915, operating from Sabarmati to Delhi, and Train No. 17020, from Hyderabad to Hisar, have been diverted.
