Nine BJP MLAs Sworn in as Ministers, Expanding Chhattisgarh Cabinet to 12

In a significant development, nine Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs took the oath as ministers, elevating the cabinet strength to 12 in the Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai-led BJP government in Chhattisgarh. The swearing-in ceremony, administered by Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan, saw prominent figures such as Brijmohan Agrawal, Ram Vichar Netam, Dayaldas Baghel, Kedar Kashyap, Lakhanlal Dewangan, Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, OP Choudhary, Tankram Verma, and Laxmi Rajwade assuming their roles.

Speaking to ANI, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai expressed confidence in the ministers, stating, “All ministers will work for the welfare of Chhattisgarh. I congratulate them and wish them luck.”

Lakshmi Rajwade, who took the oath, shared her enthusiasm, highlighting the BJP’s inclusive approach. She stated, “I am happy that I will represent not just the Bhatgaon constituency but the entire state. Women would be given priority, and everything is possible under PM Modi’s guarantee.”

Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, another newly sworn-in minister, expressed gratitude to the party leadership for entrusting him with responsibilities, emphasizing that his focus would be on uplifting the state’s farmers.

Kedar Kashyap, after taking the oath, thanked the party units and the Chief Minister, pledging to meet expectations. He emphasized the priority of taking PM Modi’s guarantees to every household.

Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker Raman Singh extended greetings to the new ministers, emphasizing their role in executing the party’s manifesto.

The expansion of the cabinet comes after Vishnu Sai, along with Deputy Chief Ministers Arun Sao and Vijay Sharma, took their oaths at Science College Ground in Raipur on December 13. According to constitutional norms, Chhattisgarh, with a 90-member assembly, can have a maximum of 13 ministers, including the chief minister. In the recent elections, the BJP secured 54 assembly constituencies, while the Congress won 35 out of the total 90.
