NIA Conducts Raids in Punjab and Rajasthan, Detains Six in Ongoing Probe Against Khalistan and Organised Criminal Nexus

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) launched raids at 16 locations in Punjab and Rajasthan on Tuesday as part of its continued investigation into the nexus between Khalistan supporters and organised criminals. Six individuals have been detained for questioning in connection with terrorist activities.

The ongoing raids, involving 14 locations in Punjab and two in Rajasthan, aim to dismantle the infrastructure supporting the nexus between terrorists, gangsters, and drug smugglers. The NIA, working in close coordination with state police forces, is committed to disrupting funding channels and eradicating the connections within this network.

The targeted searches are being conducted at residential and other premises linked to suspects associated with Khalistani supporters and those involved in the criminal nexus. Specific inputs have prompted the NIA to carry out these operations, with the goal of unraveling and disrupting the activities of individuals connected to the Khalistan movement and criminal elements.

The NIA stated, “NIA is conducting searches in ongoing investigations against Khalistan and organised criminal nexus at 14 locations in Punjab and 2 locations in Rajasthan. Subsequent to searches, six people are being examined for their involvement in terrorist activities.”

The individuals detained for questioning are reported to have engaged in terrorist activities, maintaining close contact with fugitive designated Khalistani terrorists through social media networks and other communication channels.

This development follows NIA Director General Dinkar Gupta’s discussions with FBI Director Christopher A Wray in December 2023. During the meeting, Gupta highlighted the active nexus between terrorist outfits and elements of organised criminal syndicates, emphasizing its international reach, including implications in the United States.
