NEET-PG Exam to Resume This Month Following Government’s Cybercrime Review
New Delhi: The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET-PG) medical courses, which was abruptly postponed on June 23 amid allegations of leaked papers and irregularities, is set to resume later this month. Sources confirmed to NDTV that the exam will proceed following consultations between the Home Ministry and officials from the government’s anti-cybercrime body.
The decision to postpone the NEET-PG exam sparked widespread protests among aspiring medical professionals who had travelled significant distances to participate. In response to the outcry, Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan appointed a committee to investigate the complaints, highlighting concerns over the integrity of the exam process.
The controversy surrounding NEET-UG and UGC-NET exams, which also faced scrutiny over leaked questions and administrative lapses, prompted the dismissal of SK Singh, the chief of the National Testing Agency (NTA), which oversees these examinations.
In a related development, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has launched a probe into the NEET-UG paper leak, conducting raids and making several arrests across multiple states. The CBI’s actions have intensified amid allegations of a nationwide corruption racket potentially involved in exam irregularities.
The NEET issue has become a focal point in Indian politics, with opposition parties, including the Congress and regional groups, criticizing the ruling BJP. In Parliament, discussions on the Motion of Thanks to President Droupadi Murmu’s address have included impassioned debates on the educational system’s integrity and the handling of competitive exams.
The rescheduled NEET-PG exam date is eagerly anticipated by students and stakeholders alike, as the government seeks to restore confidence in the examination process crucial for admission to medical postgraduate courses across the country.
