According to the Mumbai Police, the victim was abducted from the Kurla area late at night by four men in a vehicle. He was then taken to an isolated location, where he was allegedly assaulted. After hours of ordeal, the perpetrators abandoned him and fled the scene.
The victim, in a state of trauma, approached the police and filed a complaint. Following a swift investigation, authorities tracked down and arrested one suspect. A manhunt has been launched to apprehend the remaining three accused, who are currently absconding.
“We have formed multiple teams to locate and arrest the other suspects. This is a serious crime and we are committed to ensuring justice for the victim,” said a senior officer from Mumbai Police.
The arrested individual has been booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code related to kidnapping and sexual assault. The case has also been taken up by the Crime Branch to expedite the investigation.
Meanwhile, civil society groups and citizens have expressed shock over the rare but heinous nature of the crime. Many have called for stronger measures to protect all individuals regardless of gender from sexual violence.
The survivor is currently receiving medical and psychological support at a government hospital. Authorities have assured full protection and support to him throughout the legal process.
The police have urged anyone with information about the absconding suspects to come forward, promising confidentiality and rewards for credible leads.
