Indian equity markets extended losses for a fourth straight session on Thursday amid uncertainty over global trade deals and subdued international cues.
The BSE Sensex fell 77.84 points, or 0.09 percent, to close at 84,481.81 after a volatile session. The NSE Nifty50 ended nearly flat, slipping 3 points to settle at 25,815.55.
Sun Pharma, Tata Steel, Power Grid and Asian Paints weighed on the Sensex, while IT stocks including TCS, Infosys and Tech Mahindra provided some support.
Market experts said sentiment remains weak, with Nifty expected to find near-term support around 25,700 levels, while resistance is seen near 26,000. Concerns over global monetary policy and technology stocks continue to influence investor positioning.
Foreign institutional investors sold shares worth Rs 1,172 crore, while domestic institutions bought equities valued at Rs 769 crore.
