A 35-year-old man was arrested in the Mata ka Than area of Rajasthan for the alleged murder of his wife, who was a former president of Mahil Morcha of Rashtriya Loktantrik Party. The victim, identified as Suman, was found dead in their home.
The incident came to light when the man, Ramesh Beniwal, refused to come out of the locked house on Saturday afternoon. Police arrived at the scene after being informed by his brother-in-law in Osian, who was alerted by Beniwal himself.
According to the police, the couple had been married for 15 years and had recently moved to their current residence about a year ago. They frequently engaged in arguments, and on the night of the incident, a heated dispute occurred, during which Beniwal allegedly struck his wife’s head with a stone in a fit of rage.
“On Friday night too the couple had an argument over some issue at about midnight and Ramesh battered his wife’s head with a stone in a fit of rage,” said DCP (East) Amrita Duhan.
Upon the arrival of the police, they discovered Ramesh Beniwal sitting next to his wife’s lifeless body. He was immediately arrested, and the murder weapon, a stone, was recovered from the scene.
Ramesh Beniwal, who was involved in the timber business, would visit home only once every 2-3 months, while Suman had previously worked at a petrol pump before joining the RLP.
While it appears that Suman’s entry into politics might have been a cause of contention between the couple, further investigation into the motive behind the murder is ongoing. The tragic incident has shocked the local community, and authorities are working to ascertain all the facts surrounding the case.
