Main Accused in Batala Firing Incident Arrested in West Bengal by Punjab and Central Agencies

In a joint operation involving Punjab Police, the West Bengal Police, and central agencies, the main accused in the Batala firing incident was arrested from the Alipurduar district of West Bengal on Friday.

Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav confirmed the arrest on Twitter and stated that the entire module behind the incident was being operated from abroad. Financial investigations are currently underway to trace the money trail. The police are also working towards apprehending the other individuals involved in the case.

The firing incident took place on June 24 when two assailants, posing as customers, opened fire at Rajeev Mahajan, a Shiv Sena (Samajwadi) leader, in his electronic showroom on City Road, Batala, during daylight hours. Rajeev Mahajan, along with his brother Anil Mahajan and son Manav Mahajan, sustained injuries in the attack.

The arrest of the main accused marks a significant development in the case as efforts continue to bring all those responsible to justice. The investigation is ongoing, and further updates are awaited.
