Desperate Bid to Enter US Foiled: Lucknow Man’s Dramatic Disguise Uncovered at Delhi Airport

New Delhi: A 24-year-old man from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, went to extraordinary lengths to disguise himself as a 67-year-old in a desperate attempt to travel to the United States. On the evening of June 18, around 5:20 pm, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at Delhi Airport’s Terminal 3 intercepted Guru Sewak Singh and his wife at the immigration counter. Singh, posing as 67-year-old Rashwinder Singh Sahota, presented a passport indicating he was born on February 2, 1957, in Punjab’s Jalandhar and was set to board Air Canada flight AC 043 to Canada.

Discrepancies in Singh’s appearance, voice, and demeanor immediately aroused suspicion. Despite dyeing his hair and beard white and wearing glasses, the mismatch between his youthful energy and the age stated on the passport was evident. CISF personnel conducted a thorough inspection, discovering a soft copy of a different passport on Singh’s phone, revealing his true identity and age.

Confronted with the evidence, Singh confessed to using a forged passport. He and his wife had enlisted the help of a travel agent named Jaggi, agreeing to pay ₹ 60 lakh to reach the US via Canada using the “Donkey Route,” often used by illegal immigrants. Singh had already paid ₹ 30 lakh in advance for the fake passport and visas.

The CISF handed Singh and his wife over to the Delhi Police for legal action. They were arrested for possessing forged passports and attempting illegal travel abroad. An FIR was registered, and authorities are investigating Jaggi’s operations to uncover the extent of his activities.
