Low Visibility Causes Flight Delays and Disruptions at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport

At least 100 flights faced delays, and a few were canceled at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi on Friday due to low visibility. Airlines have advised passengers to check the flight status on their respective websites before heading to the airport. Passengers, unaware of the delays, were observed sitting on the floors, patiently awaiting updates from the airlines.

Some travelers expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of arrangements by airlines for delayed flights in the cold weather. Fakrool, a native of Rampur in Uttar Pradesh, mentioned waiting for 12 hours at Terminal 3 to catch a flight to Sharjah.

According to airport sources, visibility on Friday dropped to 150 meters, considered moderate for flight operations. While no diversions were reported until 8 am on Friday, numerous delays occurred due to adverse weather conditions.

Passengers like Kuldeep Singh, awaiting updates for his delayed flight to Toronto, highlighted the inconvenience caused by the delays. Long queues of passengers were also observed at the entry gates of the terminal.
