Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief and former Bihar Chief Minister, Lalu Prasad Yadav, took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday, highlighting the unfulfilled 2014 election promise of bringing back black money stashed in Swiss banks and depositing Rs 15 lakh into every Indian’s bank account.
In his remarks, Lalu Prasad Yadav pointed out the deceptive tactics used by the BJP-NDA alliance during their campaign, including false claims about leaders having money in Swiss banks. He recalled PM Modi’s statement that if he came to power, he would retrieve funds from Swiss banks and deposit them into the accounts of Indian citizens.
Lalu Yadav humorously mentioned, “I too was lured by the offer and opened a bank account. With the number of people in my family, 11 such accounts could have been opened. Multiply that to Rs 15 lakh, and a lot of money should have come to the family by now.”
He reassured Rahul Gandhi that all opposition parties are committed to fighting unitedly, emphasizing their collective determination to contest the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha election as a unified front.
Earlier, the constituent parties of the Opposition INDIA alliance confirmed their intention to contest the 2024 Lok Sabha election together “as far as possible.” This decision was taken during their third strategic meeting in Mumbai, where they discussed an action plan for the upcoming polls.
The INDIA alliance has been actively working towards forming a united front against the ruling party, holding strategic meetings in various cities to solidify their stance ahead of the next general elections.
