In response to the ongoing probe into the alleged obscene video case involving Prajwal Revanna, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has assured that the state government will extend full support to the victims. This assurance comes following a letter from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi urging for assistance to those affected.
Expressing concern over the case, Siddaramaiah emphasized the importance of upholding justice for the victims to maintain trust in the legal system. He noted Gandhi’s call for support in a post on X platform, affirming the government’s commitment to ensuring a fair process.
The investigation, led by a Special Investigative Team (SIT) formed by the Karnataka government, targets HD Revanna and his son Prajwal Revanna, the sitting MP and candidate from Hassan Lok Sabha constituency. Allegations of sexual harassment and criminal intimidation were brought forward by a woman who formerly worked in their household.
In his letter, Rahul Gandhi underscored the Congress party’s obligation to advocate for justice, particularly for women. He acknowledged the SIT’s ongoing inquiry and urged the Prime Minister to take action, including the cancellation of Prajwal Revanna’s diplomatic passport and his extradition to India.
Adding to the developments, Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara disclosed the issuance of a second lookout notice against both HD Revanna and Prajwal Revanna. The first notice was issued after they requested time to appear before the investigation team.
HD Revanna, specifically, faces charges of kidnapping in connection with the case. This charge stemmed from a complaint filed by the son of a woman allegedly subjected to abduction and sexual abuse.
