Joint Operation by BSF and Karimganj Police Seizes Heroin and Firearm

In a coordinated operation, the Border Security Force (BSF) and Karimganj district police apprehended two individuals and confiscated 143 grams of heroin and a firearm in Assam’s Karimganj district. The arrests and seizures occurred during a joint operation conducted on Sunday night.

The arrested individuals were identified as Hasimuddin and Rehan Uddin. The operation was initiated based on intelligence indicating that two individuals were transporting narcotics in a vehicle from the Badarpur area to Cachar.

Pratap Das, Additional Superintendent of Police of Karimganj district, stated, “We had information that two persons along with NDPS [Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances] substance in a vehicle moved towards Cachar side from Badarpur area, and we along with BSF immediately set up naka checking at Badarpur area and intercepted the vehicle. During the search of the vehicle, we recovered five soap cases containing 143 grams of heroin and one .22 mm pistol. We also apprehended two persons.”

A case has been registered in connection with the incident, and further investigation is ongoing.
