Jemimah Rodrigues’ Heroics Propel India to Victory in Second ODI Against Bangladesh

Dhaka – Jemimah Rodrigues delivered a sensational all-round performance to lead India to a resounding 108-run victory over Bangladesh in the second match of the three-match ODI series at the Shere Bangla National Stadium on Wednesday.

Rodrigues showcased her batting prowess by notching up her career-best ODI score of 86 in the first innings, steering India to a competitive total of 228/8. She then showcased her bowling skills to claim her career-best ODI bowling figures of 4-3, dismantling the Bangladeshi batting lineup.

Bangladesh faced early setbacks in their pursuit of the target as opener Sharmin Akhter departed early for just 2 runs, courtesy of Deepti Sharma’s precise delivery. Murshida Khatun followed suit shortly after, falling to Meghna Singh’s delivery with a score of 12(19). India’s disciplined bowling in the powerplay limited Bangladesh to 22-2.

Sneh Rana further intensified India’s grip on the game, dismissing Lata Mondal to push Bangladesh deeper into trouble. Despite a 68-run partnership between Ritu Moni and Fargana Hoque, Devika Vaidya struck to break the stand by dismissing Hoque for 47(81). Rodrigues then took charge by dismissing Ritu Moni and Rabeya Khan consecutively, reducing Bangladesh to 110-6.

Nigar Sultana and Nahida Akter briefly stabilized the innings, but Rodrigues intervened once again to dismiss Nahida and Sultana, leaving Bangladesh struggling at 120. India continued to dominate, taking wickets at regular intervals to wrap up the Bangladesh innings and level the series.

Earlier, Rodrigues had anchored the Indian innings with her impressive knock of 86, displaying resilience and skill. Harmanpreet Kaur, the Indian captain, also played a crucial role with a captain’s knock of 52. The Indian team posted a challenging total of 228/8.

The victory in the second ODI has brought the series back to level terms, with one match remaining. India will face Bangladesh in the final ODI on Saturday at the Shere Bangla National Stadium.
