India Defeats Australia to Reach Champions Trophy Final

India secured a place in the Champions Trophy final after a hard-fought four-wicket victory over Australia in the first semi-final in Dubai on Tuesday.

Australia, opting to bat first, posted a competitive total of 264 all out, led by half-centuries from skipper Steve Smith and wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey. Given the traditionally low-scoring nature of the venue in this tournament, the target was expected to challenge India’s batting lineup.

Virat Kohli anchored India’s chase with a crucial 84, but it was KL Rahul’s unbeaten 42 down the order that steered the team home with 11 balls to spare.

India now awaits the winner of the second semi-final between South Africa and New Zealand, set to take place on Wednesday. The final will be played in Dubai on Sunday.
