ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023: India-Pakistan Match Rescheduled, Along with Eight Other Fixtures

In a significant update to the schedule of the highly anticipated ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced several alterations to the match dates. The announcement, released on Wednesday, brought forth changes to the fixture list of the upcoming tournament set to take place in India.

Among the notable changes is the rescheduling of the high-stakes clash between arch-rivals India and Pakistan. Originally slated to unfold in Ahmedabad on Sunday, October 15, the match has been moved up a day and will now take place on Saturday, October 14, at the same venue. This adjustment has triggered a series of alterations to other matches in the tournament.

As a result of the India-Pakistan rescheduling, England’s encounter against Afghanistan, initially scheduled for Saturday, October 14 in Delhi, will now be contested on Sunday, October 15. Pakistan’s fixture against Sri Lanka in Hyderabad has been advanced from Thursday, October 12 to Tuesday, October 10. Likewise, Australia’s significant match against South Africa, originally planned for Friday, October 13 in Lucknow, has been pushed back to Thursday, October 12.

Furthermore, the match between New Zealand and Bangladesh, originally planned as a day game on October 14 in Chennai, will now be played under lights on Friday, October 13, in a day-night contest.

Several other changes were also made in the schedule. The timings for some matches were adjusted, with England’s match against Bangladesh in Dharamsala shifting to a day match with a 10:30 AM (local time) start.

Towards the conclusion of the league stage, the double-header matches scheduled for Sunday, November 12 have been moved a day earlier to Saturday, November 11. The encounters include Australia facing Pakistan in Pune at 10:30 AM and England taking on Pakistan in Kolkata at 2:00 PM.

Lastly, India’s final league match against the Netherlands has been moved from November 11 to November 12, and it will be a day-night fixture held in Bengaluru.

The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 is set to commence on Thursday, October 5, with an exciting clash between 2019 finalists England and New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The tournament will culminate with the final match at the same venue on Sunday, November 19.
