Husband of Arrested Pilot Sent to Judicial Custody for Allegedly Assaulting Minor Domestic Help

The Dwarka District Court in Delhi sent 36-year-old Kaushik Bagchi, husband of the arrested pilot, to judicial custody until August 2 for his alleged involvement in assaulting their minor domestic help in southwest Delhi’s Dwarka.

Kaushik Bagchi and his wife, pilot Poornima Bagchi, are accused of beating a ten-year-old domestic help. Poornima Bagchi was remanded to judicial custody the day before, and now Kaushik Bagchi faces 13 days of judicial custody.

The Delhi Police arrested the couple following allegations of them beating the minor domestic help. The case was registered at the Dwarka South police station.

According to reports, the couple allegedly assaulted the ten-year-old girl who had been working as a domestic help in their house for two months. The incident came to light when a relative of the girl noticed the situation, leading to a gathering of people at the couple’s residence, who confronted and manhandled them.

Another FIR was registered against the lady pilot on her complaint, accusing the crowd of assaulting the couple.

Poornima Bagchi is employed as a pilot in a private airline, while her husband works as ground staff at another carrier, according to Delhi Police.

The Delhi Police has filed a case against the couple under several sections of the Indian Penal Code, including voluntarily causing hurt, voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means, wrongful confinement, and buying or disposing of any person as a slave. The case also includes violations of the Child Labour Act and section 75 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act.
