Heavy Rainfall in Himachal Pradesh Leads to Road Blockages

In the wake of continuous heavy rainfall, Himachal Pradesh has witnessed significant disruptions, with 112 roads, including National Highway 305, being blocked on Sunday, according to the State Emergency Operation Centre. Additionally, 12 water supply schemes have been affected by adverse weather conditions, and one fire incident was reported in the past 24 hours, as per government data.

Official statistics reveal a grim situation, with an average of approximately seven lives lost daily in rain-related incidents within the hilly state since the onset of the monsoon on June 24. Himachal Pradesh has been grappling with relentless heavy rainfall over the past several weeks, resulting in substantial loss of both life and property due to landslides, cloudbursts, flash floods, and other incidents.

As per the latest available information, a total of 397 people have tragically lost their lives in rain-related incidents, with 143 casualties attributed to landslides, flash floods, and cloudbursts. Additionally, 370 individuals have sustained injuries, while 39 people remain missing, as reported by the government on Saturday.

The state continues to face the challenges posed by the ongoing monsoon, and authorities are working tirelessly to manage the aftermath of these natural disasters.
