Headline: Kapil Dev Commends Rohit Sharma Despite World Cup Final Loss

Kapil Dev, the captain of the 1983 World Cup-winning team, showered praise on Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, encouraging him to stay positive despite India’s loss in the World Cup final.

Rohit’s aggressive start with a rapid 47 off 31 balls set the tone for India in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium. However, he fell victim to Maxwell’s spin and Head’s exceptional catch, leading to a shift in the match dynamics.

Taking to Instagram, Kapil Dev acknowledged Rohit’s mastery and motivated him for the future, stating, “Rohit, you are a master at what you do. You have a lot of success awaiting you. It’s tough, I know, but keep your spirits up. India is with you.”

Reflecting on the match after India’s defeat, Rohit admitted that they didn’t play their best cricket. He acknowledged the challenging conditions, stating, “The result has not gone our way. We were not good enough today.”

India posted a total of 240 runs in 50 overs, with significant contributions from Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and KL Rahul. Despite early success with the ball, the Indian team struggled to contain the Australian middle order, leading to a six-wicket loss for India.

The focus now shifts to the upcoming five-match T20I series between India and Australia, set to commence on Thursday in Visakhapatnam.
