German Vice-Chancellor to Visit India, Inaugurate Indo-German Business Forum

New Delhi – Robert Habeck, Germany’s Vice-Chancellor and Minister of Economic Affairs and Climate Action, is set to arrive in India on Thursday for a three-day visit, during which he will inaugurate the Indo-German Business Forum in Delhi. The German Embassy in India confirmed the Vice-Chancellor’s itinerary.

Accompanied by a high-ranking official and a business delegation comprising top executives from large and medium-sized German companies, Vice-Chancellor Habeck will visit three Indian cities as part of his tour.

During his stay, he is expected to engage in high-level meetings with India’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, as well as the Minister of External Affairs, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, and the Minister of Power and New and Renewable Energy, RK Singh, according to the German Embassy.

The Indo-German Business Forum, hosted by the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce, will be inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor Habeck under the theme “Inviting Innovation: Transforming the economy for a shared sustainable future” in Delhi.

Additionally, the Vice-Chancellor will visit various Indo-German joint ventures in Delhi and Mumbai. In Mumbai, he plans to engage with the Government of Maharashtra, visit a non-governmental project supporting sustainable development, and have an exchange with young Indian entrepreneurs, as stated by the German Embassy in India. The visit will conclude with Vice-Chancellor Habeck’s participation in the G20 Energy Ministers meeting in Goa.

Prior to his visit, Habeck expressed Germany’s interest in expanding and deepening its strategic partnership with India, emphasizing that India, as the world’s most populous country, is a crucial growth market. He highlighted the untapped potential for cooperation in renewable energy and green hydrogen, which would contribute to strengthening the resilience and diversification of the German economy, as reported by the German Embassy in India.
