Former Delhi Congress Chief Arvinder Singh Lovely Joins BJP Amidst Alliance Discontent

Former Delhi Congress President Arvinder Singh Lovely, who recently tendered his resignation from the Congress party, officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday.

Lovely’s induction into the BJP was marked by a ceremony attended by Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, BJP General Secretary Vinod Tawde, and Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva.

Accompanying Lovely in his move to the BJP were former Congress MLAs Raj Kumar Chauhan, Naseeb Singh, and Neeraj Basoya, along with former Youth Congress President Amit Mallik.

Lovely’s departure from the Delhi Congress leadership position on April 28 was underscored by a letter addressed to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, wherein he expressed opposition to the Congress-AAP alliance in Delhi.

In his resignation letter, Lovely criticized the decision to ally with AAP, citing concerns over AAP’s history of baseless corruption allegations against the Congress Party and disapproval of AAP’s candidate Kanhaiya Kumar’s praise for Delhi’s Chief Minister and endorsement of AAP’s work in various sectors.

Lovely’s resignation and subsequent joining of the BJP come amidst the backdrop of the impending Lok Sabha elections in Delhi, with voting scheduled for May 25 and counting set for June 4.
