DGP Umesh Mishra Chairs Virtual Meeting, Reiterates State’s Commitment to Zero Tolerance for Crime

DGP Umesh Mishra recently convened a virtual meeting with Superintendents of Police (SPs) from 50 districts, emphasizing the State government’s unwavering commitment to a policy of ‘zero tolerance’ for criminal activities. During the meeting, he underscored the need for rigorous enforcement of this policy and issued a series of directives aimed at ensuring public safety and order.

Mishra directed all officers to promptly register First Information Reports (FIRs) in cases involving fraud exceeding Rs 5 lakhs. This step, he noted, would streamline the process of addressing financial irregularities and prevent the escalation of such crimes. The DGP emphasized that the ongoing campaign against miscreants should be treated with utmost seriousness, aligning with the State’s zero-tolerance approach.

Highlighting the significance of the campaign, DGP Mishra emphasized that the Chief Minister himself is deeply committed to its success. He urged all law enforcement officers to take proactive measures to curb criminal activities and maintain law and order.

Furthermore, Mishra instructed SPs to closely monitor the operation of nightclubs and restaurants, ensuring their compliance with mandated closing times. He emphasized that strict action should be taken against establishments found operating beyond permissible hours, reflecting the State’s resolve to maintain order and safety.

In a bid to curb the use of hookah in public spaces, the DGP issued a directive for stringent action against any bar or club found allowing the use of hookah on their premises. This measure aligns with the State’s efforts to promote healthy practices and discourage the consumption of substances detrimental to public health.

During the meeting, DGP Umesh Mishra reiterated the State government’s commitment to upholding public safety and ensuring a secure environment for all residents. The instructions provided during the virtual meeting are expected to reinforce the State’s ‘zero tolerance’ policy towards crime and further bolster law enforcement efforts to maintain peace and order.
