Delhi Police announced the arrest of three sharpshooters affiliated with the Tillu Tajpuria Gang, accused of firing upon a shop owner in an incident reported on Friday. The arrests followed a gunfire exchange in Delhi’s Alipur area.
The apprehended individuals were identified as Rohit (24), Siddharth (19), and Mohit (23). The police operation also resulted in the recovery of 1 mobile phone, 2 sophisticated pistols, 1 country-made pistol, 2 live cartridges, 2 empty cartridges, and the confiscation of a car (DL9CAR6833) used in the crime.
According to the police, a PCR call was received, reporting an incident where the victim, Vikas, was allegedly fired upon and injured by four individuals on February 22 at 9:34 PM. The victim was seated in his car in front of his shop in Delhi’s Village Bakoli when three armed individuals approached, with a fourth person remaining in the driver’s seat of their white car.
The assailants opened fire when Vikas attempted to flee, resulting in a gunshot injury. Following the incident, various police teams, including local police special staff and gangster cell teams, initiated a search operation. One of the sharpshooters, Rohit, was injured and overpowered during the exchange of fire, while the other two, Mohit and Siddharth, were subsequently arrested after attempts to escape.
Investigations revealed that the motive behind the attack was jealousy over Vikas’s newly opened chicken shop in Bakoli. The accused, driven by envy, targeted Vikas outside his shop.
Vikas stated that the attackers were resentful due to his new shop, and on the day of the incident, they shot him while he was in his car, resulting in a bullet injury to his left thigh. Attempting to escape, Vikas was pursued by the assailants.
The police have registered a case against the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. The fourth accused is currently absconding, and the police express confidence in apprehending the individual soon. Further investigations into the matter are underway.
