Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Mocks Opposition Parties Ahead of Lok Sabha Elections

In a recent rally in Saharanpur, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh took aim at the opposition, predicting that after the Lok Sabha elections, the Samajwadi Party would be dubbed the ‘Samapt Party’ and the Congress would be termed ‘Kaun Congress’.

Singh addressed three rallies in western Uttar Pradesh, aiming to balance the caste equation ahead of the upcoming elections in 2024.

He criticized the Congress and Samajwadi Party for spreading narratives suggesting various sections of society were angry with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), highlighting instances from past elections.

Singh assured sugarcane farmers that the BJP government had always addressed their issues and expressed confidence in Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s ability to handle any farmer-related concerns.

Both the Samajwadi Party and the Congress, part of the opposition INDIA bloc, are contesting the polls in Uttar Pradesh as allies.

The Lok Sabha elections will be conducted in seven phases starting from April 19, with Uttar Pradesh, contributing the maximum of 80 MPs, voting in all seven phases.

The election, spanning 543 Lok Sabha seats, will see nearly 97 crore eligible voters exercising their franchise. Vote counting is scheduled for June 4.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP secured 303 seats, while the Congress managed to win only 52. Similarly, in 2014, the BJP won 282 seats, leaving the Congress with just 44.
