Prayagraj: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, during a key distribution ceremony in the Lukarganj area of Sangam Nagri, emphasized the need for all development authorities in the state to construct houses for the poor on land that has been reclaimed from mafia control. This approach aligns with the principles of good governance, as initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi nine years ago. CM Yogi also highlighted the significant progress made in providing housing for the underprivileged since the formation of the double-engine government in Uttar Pradesh, stating that over 54 lakh poor individuals have now acquired their own homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
While distributing keys to 76 low-income group individuals who have benefitted from the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), CM Yogi said, “Honorable Prime Minister Mr. @narendramodi, the keys of 76 houses constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) on the land freed from the mafia in Prayagraj district were distributed to the beneficiaries today under the guidance and inspiration of ji. On this occasion, 226 development projects worth Rs 768 crore were also handed over to the people of the district. Hearty congratulations to all the beneficiaries and residents of the district,” as mentioned in a tweet.
CM Yogi expressed that previous governments had supported mafias, hindering the development of Uttar Pradesh. He emphasized the government’s commitment to stand with the poor and provide them with housing, which was previously lacking. The government has utilized land recovered from mafia possession to construct houses for the poor, amounting to a cost of Rs 6.6548 crore.
During the event, CM Yogi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 226 development projects worth Rs 768 crore. Acknowledging Prayagraj as a city of pilgrimage and a hub of education and justice, he emphasized the double-engine government’s efforts to accelerate development and ensure good governance in the state. CM Yogi also mentioned the improved law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh, which has facilitated investment proposals worth Rs 36,000 crore during the Global Investor Summit held earlier this year.
Looking ahead, CM Yogi anticipated a grand and divine Kumbh in Prayagraj in 2025. He called for continued support for PM Modi’s leadership to establish India as a global power. CM Yogi remarked, “If the Indian economy continues to grow at the current pace, it will surely become the third-largest economy in the world by 2027 and emerge as a great power globally.”
During the key distribution program, CM Yogi inspected the houses built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and interacted with the beneficiaries. He also distributed chocolates and biscuits to children. In addition, CM Yogi participated in a tree-planting initiative at the colony.
The houses handed over to the residents of Lukerganj were constructed on land freed from illegal mafia possession. Despite initial resistance to the demolition action, the community expressed gratitude towards CM Yogi for fulfilling their dreams of owning a house. Beneficiaries shared their heartfelt appreciation, expressing how this initiative has positively impacted their lives and provided a sense of security and stability.
