HYDERABAD, India — Bollywood actor Rakul Preet Singh’s brother, Aman Preet Singh, along with four others, was arrested by Hyderabad Police on Monday in connection with an alleged drug trafficking case. Officials from the Telangana Anti-Narcotics Department reported that 2.6 kilograms of cocaine was being brought to Hyderabad for sale.
The police team, which busted the drug racket, identified 30 customers involved with the contraband, including Aman Preet Singh. The other accused are Aniketh Reddy, Prasad, Madhusudhan, and Nikhil Daman.
The five individuals are currently in police custody and will be presented in court following a medical examination. “As consumers, we picked up five people and brought them to the police station. In the urine test kit, all of them were found positive. They have been taken into custody. We are now sending them for a detailed medical examination,” said Srinivas, DCP, Cyberabad Police, Rajendra Nagar Zone.
This case has brought additional scrutiny to Rakul Preet Singh, who was previously summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in 2021 and 2022 in connection with a drug trafficking and consumption investigation. Her statement was recorded by the agency last year. Other celebrities, including Rana Daggubati, Charmme Kaur, Navdeep, Ravi Teja, and Puri Jagannadh, were also questioned in relation to the case.
The ED’s investigation into drug trafficking and consumption has been ongoing for the past four years, following the 2017 bust of a high-end drug cartel by Telangana’s Prohibition and Excise Department. The cartel was found to be supplying LSD, MDMA, and other narcotics.
