Bobby Deol Clinches Best Actor in a Negative Role Award for ‘Animal’ at Dadasaheb Phalke Awards 2024

In a triumph for his portrayal in the action thriller ‘Animal,’ actor Bobby Deol secured the Best Actor in a Negative Role award at the Dadasaheb Phalke Awards 2024.

The announcement was made via the Dadasaheb Phalke Awards’ Instagram, featuring a video of Bobby Deol proudly posing with his trophy. The caption read, “Best Actor in a Negative Role – Animal. Congratulations @iambobbydeol #BobbyDeol #DPIFFAwards.” Notably, Bobby portrayed the mute antagonist Abrar Haque in the film ‘Animal.’

Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, ‘Animal’ emerged as one of the major blockbusters of 2023, amassing over Rs 800 crore at the box office. The film, however, faced criticism for its portrayal of misogyny. It revolves around the complexities of a father-son relationship, with Ranbir Kapoor essaying the role of Rannvijay Singh seeking revenge following an attempt on his father’s life.

The Dadasaheb Phalke Awards ceremony witnessed the presence of several Bollywood luminaries, including Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukerji, Aditya Roy Kapur, Vikrant Massey, Nayanthara, Shahid Kapoor, Sandeep Reddy Vanga, and more.

Looking ahead, Bobby Deol is set to feature in the forthcoming film ‘NBK109’ alongside superstar Nandamuri Balakrishna and actor Suriya’s upcoming project titled ‘Kanguva.’
