The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday announced the names of 71 candidates for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, even as discussions over seat-sharing within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) continue.

The list, unveiled by senior BJP leaders at the party headquarters in New Delhi, reflects a strategic balance between experienced legislators and fresh faces, aimed at strengthening the party’s grassroots appeal ahead of the polls.

Party sources said the BJP’s first list covers key constituencies across the state, including strongholds in Patna, Muzaffarpur, and Gaya. The party’s decision to move forward with its own slate of candidates, while seat-sharing negotiations with allies like the Janata Dal (United) [JD(U)] and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) are still underway, underscores its confidence in retaining a dominant position within the alliance.

Senior BJP leaders emphasized that the NDA remains united, despite ongoing talks. “Discussions on seat allocation are progressing smoothly. We are confident of a fair and balanced agreement that will ensure a decisive victory for the NDA in Bihar,” a spokesperson said.

Political analysts note that this early announcement signals the BJP’s determination to project readiness and organizational strength, as the coalition prepares to face a formidable opposition led by the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Congress.

The full list of BJP candidates has been released on the party’s official platforms, with more announcements expected as the alliance finalizes its seat-sharing arrangements.
