In preparation for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, Jamal Siddiqui, the chief of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Minority Morcha, led a meeting on Thursday at the party headquarters in Delhi to discuss the ‘Sufi Samvad’ program aimed at Muslim outreach.
During the meeting, Siddiqui revealed that 70 individuals from 14 districts participated in the training program. He explained, “Today, we conducted a training meeting regarding the Sufi Samvad program with 70 people from the 14 districts of Delhi.”
The BJP Minority Morcha chief highlighted the nationwide Sufi dialogue program and the objective of bringing together lists of participants from across the country onto a single platform. He emphasized the importance of presenting the government’s initiatives to these participants and forming teams at the district level.
Siddiqui stated, “We have formed teams in all the state districts. Today, the state unit of Delhi had a training program specifically focusing on Sufi dialogue.” He further mentioned that one leader and five co-incharges were appointed per district to connect with 100 Sufis in each district.
The BJP Minority Morcha chief explained, “We have assigned one in-charge and five co-incharges per district. Our target is to connect one co-incharge with 100 Sufis. The co-incharge will meet these Sufis, convey the Prime Minister’s message, and present the government’s views to them.”
He further added that the party would listen to the problems faced by the Sufis and gather their personal information such as names, dates of birth, anniversaries, and details about Urs celebrations, in order to establish personal connections.
Siddiqui emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s aim is to promote Sufism through the Sufi dialogue outreach program. He explained that the co-incharges would maintain constant contact with Sufi saints and their followers, ensuring government support for their development. The program also aims to spread a message of peace as fundamentalism threatens the essence of Sufism.
“The Prime Minister’s goal is to promote Sufism through Sufi dialogue. The softer side of Islam teaches peace, harmony, and inclusivity,” stated the BJP Minority Morcha chief.
