BJP Leader and Union Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore Secures Victory in Jhotwara Constituency

In the Rajasthan Assembly polls, Rajyavardhan Rathore, a prominent BJP leader and Union Minister, emerged victorious from the Jhotwara constituency, according to official figures released by the Election Commission. Rathore garnered an impressive 1,47,913 votes, securing a win over Congress candidate Abhishek Choudhary by a substantial margin of 50,167 votes.

In another key contest, Congress leader Sachin Pilot triumphed over BJP candidate Ajit Singh Mehta, securing 1,05,812 votes and winning by a margin of 29,475 votes. Mehta managed to garner 76,337 votes in the closely watched race.

Former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, contesting as a BJP candidate from Jhalrapatan in Rajasthan’s Jhalawar, secured victory by 53,193 votes after the completion of the 25th round of counting. Raje, a stalwart in the region since 2003, is considered a strong contender for a prominent role in the state’s leadership.

As the BJP appears to be on the path to victory in the Rajasthan Assembly polls, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot expressed surprise at the “unexpected result” in a post on X. Gehlot humbly accepted the mandate from the public and acknowledged that the defeat indicated shortcomings in effectively communicating their plans, laws, and innovations to the public.

The current tally indicates the BJP leading with 115 seats out of the 200-member Assembly, while the Congress is ahead in 69 seats. The majority mark in the state is 100. Notably, the elections in the Karanpur constituency were adjourned due to the unfortunate passing of Congress candidate Gurmeet Singh Koonar.
