“Precious Azuonwu, Founder of Bankable Wisdom, Leads Grassroots Education Initiative to Empower Children in Port Harcourt Waterfront Communities”

Port Harcourt, December 2021 –

Precious Azuonwu, founder of Bankable Wisdom and chairman of the Creativity Zone Developmental Initiative, has taken a bold step toward empowering underprivileged children in the Port Harcourt waterfront slums. Through education and community-based interventions, Azuonwu and his initiative are addressing societal challenges with the ultimate goal of creating a brighter future for Africa’s youth.

Since its registration in 2021, the Creativity Zone Developmental Initiative has focused on equipping and empowering youngsters with the skills needed to solve pressing societal problems. Among its key projects is the impactful campaign titled “Sending Hope and Wisdom”, which reached 100 children in the Port Harcourt waterfront communities.

The “Sending Hope and Wisdom” project delivered a strong and heartfelt message: “Children never choose their parents; God did.” This program aimed to inspire collaboration from individuals and organizations to help provide children with access to decent living conditions and affordable education.

During the event, the children received books, food, and words of encouragement. This initiative was made possible through a sole partnership with the Garden City Library, founded by Austin Nwaeze. The partnership combined resources to create an atmosphere of hope and learning for children living in one of the city’s most underserved communities.

Speaking about his inspiration for this program, Precious Azuonwu shared his deeply personal connection to the waterfront community. He revealed that he was born and raised in the Port Harcourt waterfront, where he attended both primary and secondary school. A strong reading culture, cultivated during his junior secondary school days, equipped him with the knowledge and resilience to overcome obstacles and become an impactful entrepreneur and author. At just 17 years old, Azuonwu published his book, Read of Change, further underscoring his commitment to inspiring others.

During the program, Azuonwu addressed the children with a message of encouragement:
“No matter where you find yourself, do not be discouraged. If you seek knowledge through serious learning, you can become anything you dream of.”

The initiative not only targeted children but also encouraged their parents to foster a culture of learning at home. Azuonwu emphasized that education is a key tool in breaking cycles of poverty and enabling children to achieve their potential.

The Garden City Library, led by Austin Nwaeze, played a vital role in supporting the program by providing educational materials and helping create an environment conducive to learning. Together with the Creativity Zone Developmental Initiative, the organizations ensured every child received books and food, making the event both educational and nourishing.

Parents were also invited to participate in the event, fostering a sense of community and shared responsibility for the children’s education and future.

The Creativity Zone Developmental Initiative, as a grassroots project of Bankable Wisdom, plans to repeat this program in 2025. The organization is calling for further collaboration with individuals, non-profits, and corporate bodies to scale the program’s impact and bring hope to even more underserved communities.

Reflecting on the initiative, Azuonwu highlighted the power of education in transforming lives:
“This program is deeply personal to me. Growing up in the same circumstances as these children, I know firsthand the importance of having access to books, knowledge, and encouragement. I am committed to ensuring that no child in the waterfront communities feels left behind.”

Founded by Precious Azuonwu in 2021, the Creativity Zone Developmental Initiative focuses on equipping youth with education and skills to tackle societal challenges. It operates as a grassroots arm of Bankable Wisdom, delivering hands-on community programs to empower the next generation.

The Garden City Library, established by Austin Nwaeze, is dedicated to fostering a culture of reading and learning in underserved communities. The library partners with organizations to provide books, educational resources, and safe spaces for learning and development.
