Officials from Morigaon District Police in Assam have arrested a cyber criminal in connection with a case related to the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) scam in the district. The arrested individual, identified as Dilwar Hussain, was apprehended from a rented house in Guwahati’s Hatigaon area on July 13, after evading arrest for several months.
According to Samiran Baishya, Additional Superintendent of Police of Morigaon district, a case had been registered at Mikirbheta police station in relation to the PMFBY scam. Prior to Hussain’s arrest, eight individuals had already been taken into custody. Hussain, who owned a Customer Service Point (CSP), had been on the run since then.
During the arrest, police recovered a significant amount of evidence from Hussain’s possession. This included 521 ATM cards, several SIM cards, a swipe machine, and a fingerprint machine. The officials emphasized that the recovered ATM cards would undergo verification as part of their ongoing investigation.
“The investigation into the case is underway,” stated the official, indicating that further steps would be taken to uncover additional details and gather evidence related to the PMFBY scam.
